| TRAVEL LIKE A PRO 2007 by Robert D. Fertig with Sharon Westermoe
"Your chapter on Travelers With Special Needs was a lifesaver. I am currently utilizing a cane and walker to get about and was afraid I would not be able to make an upcoming trip to visit my grandchildren. Your helpful tips, advice, and website referrals made the travel arrangements a breeze. Thank you." Maggie Drohan, World Traveler "I am your former student who recently asked you for help. My husband and I and 4 others will be doing the Italian cruise in April. There will be 3 scooters in the group. I wanted to let you know that using the disability resources web site you gave in your book, I was able to locate the "information for the handicap" web site in Venice. They have already sent me a packet which among other things contained the keys to use the stair lifts at some of the bridges. If I wouldn't have attended your classes a few weeks ago, I might not have received this information. Thanks you so much. This will certainly help make my husband's and my sister's trip more enjoyable". Alicia Ketcham, Owner of Travel Like a Pro and former student There are basic rules the well-traveled follow. Rule # 1 - If something seems to good to be true, it usually is. Rule # 2 - Do not dress like a typical American tourist. Leave your sneakers, shorts, workout clothing, baseball caps, tank tops, mini skirts and unpressed jeans at home. Rule # 3 - Plan and budget your trip, then work your plan with good research and then stay within your budget. Rule # 4 - Make reservations in advance wherever, and whenever, possible. Rule # 5 - If you really don't need it - don't take it with you, or don't buy it. Rule # 6 - If the person you are speaking with does not understand your language, never, never raise your voice so that they will understand you. Do the best that you can, and whenever possible, ask someone else for help. English speakers are usually available. All you have to do is to ask. Everything within the pages of Travel Like a Pro have been alphabetically arranged for ease of reference. Web sites, for additional information, will be found at the end of each appropriate chapter. There is a little intentional duplication when the subject(s) warrant it. The following Table of Contents specifically shows how subjects have been organized. | "Some, but by no means all, of the author's practical hints may be learned by time-consuming trial and error. Having this book available during my thirty-two year career in aviation would have made for more hassle-free travel. The book's comprehensive and candid tips will make your travels more enjoyable, and more importantly, safer. Certainly few people have traveled as extensively as the authors. Their unique personal adventures make this authoritative and well-organized guide come alive." Allan C. Vasterling, TWA Captain, Retired | ||||||||||
